About Acetal

Polyoxymethylene (POM), also known as acetal, polyacetal, is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic. It is known for its high strength, low friction, and excellent dimensional stability, making it ideal for precision mechanical applications.

JEDA Polymers produces several variations of acetal products – homopolymer and copolymer. JEDA recently introduced a new line of low wear abrasion resistant products. The new Jedalon® AR series of products incorporate new additive systems that do not use fluorinated polymers. The products are PFAS free and have industry leading mechanical properties and wear resistance.

Types of Acetal (POM)

Two general types of acetal resins exists which are categorized as homopolymer acetal (POM-H) and copolymer acetal (POM-C). The two types of acetals are similar in properties and performance and can often be interchanged. However, homopolymer acetal offers superior mechanical properties such as higher strength, stiffness, and creep resistance. Copolymer acetal provides better chemical resistance and thermal stability though with lower mechanical strength.
